A walk along Bindeballestien offers a journey back in time. The experiences along the route include an Iron Age village, a Viking Age find, and a merchant’s shop from 1897.

If you start the route in Vejle, do yourself a favor and spend a day visiting the various attractions the city has to offer.

For example, you can stop by the waterfront, where you’ll find the architectural gems, Bølgen and Fjordenhus.

If you’re into art and culture, you should visit the Vejle Art Museum, which has a collection consisting of graphic art, paintings, and sculptures, as well as the Vejle Cultural Museum, where you can experience Vejle’s history from ancient times to the present.

You can also take a trip to the knowledge and experience center, Økolariet, and learn more about nature, environment, climate, and energy.

Entrance to the art museum, cultural museum, and Økolariet is free.

Bindeballestien starts at the street Aagade right by Spinderihallerne. Take a look inside Spinderihallerne and enjoy the innovative spirit that fills the place. Spinderihallerne also houses the Cultural Museum.

Once you leave the city of Vejle, you step into the beautiful nature of Vejle River Valley. Here you will find Haraldskær Manor and the visitor center at Haraldskær Avlsgård, where you can learn more about the valley’s history, wildlife, biodiversity, and much more.

Further along the route, you will come to Vingsted Iron Age Village. In the Iron Age village, you get up close to the Iron Age and how people lived back then.

Shortly after, you will reach Ravning Bridge, a reconstruction of a bridge that the Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, had constructed.

You can take a detour to Tørskind Gravel Pit (about 3 kilometers) and see the impressive landscape sculpture created by Robert Jacobsen and Jean Clareboudt.

Make a stop at Bindeballe Merchant’s Shop and experience what a merchant’s shop from 1897 looked like. Across the road, you will find Bindeballe Station. The station building is from 1897 and now houses an exhibition where the ticket office and waiting room are reconstructed with many original items.

If you have more energy, visit the Egtved Girl’s Grave. Here you will find an exhibition about one of Europe’s finest Bronze Age finds. It’s a detour of about 5 kilometers. At the end of 2025, the new experience center, Egtved Girl’s World, will open right where she was laid to rest on a summer day 3,500 years ago.
