Vejle’s waterfront
Vejle’s waterfront has over the past few years been transformed into a modern and charming canal district with award-winning architecture.
The landscape along the Coast to Coast Trail was formed during the last ice age about 16,000 years ago, and you get to experience it up close along the route.
In the east, you start in Vejle, where you can enjoy the view over Vejle Fjord with beautiful surrounding forests.
Next, you walk through the nature area, Kongens Kær, which hosts a rich birdlife, and if you’re lucky, you might spot the sea eagle.
Vejle river valley is brimming with natural experiences, and further along your journey, you can experience the beautiful nature around Haraldskær, which offers forest, meadow, and marsh. Take a break at Kvak Mølle, where you can enjoy a rest and the nature around you.
Close to the route, you will find The Queens Bog, where a bog body was discovered in 1835. You can learn the full story of the bog body ‘Queen Gunhild’ at the Cultural Museum in Spinderihallerne.
Further along the route, you come to Vingsted. Here, you can go down into an underwater box and see the wildlife in the Vejle river.
Between the villages of Vork and Ødsted, you will find Vork Bakker - Vork Hills. Between the valley floor and the plateau lies a collection of small forests, steep grasslands, lakes, and marsh areas.
Take a short detour to Runkenbjerg, where you can enjoy the beautiful view over Vejle river valley on one side and Egtved river valley on the other.
