Museums, churches, sculptures, and historical finds. Rans Togt offers many experiences, each of which has shaped the areas you visit along Rans Togt.

The Watershed Stage (Vandskels-etapen)

The official start of Rans Togt is at Museum Give. Here you can learn more about the life of the heath farmer and gain insight into the Give area. At Museum Give, you can also buy a hiking map of the route, have a cup of coffee, and use the restroom before starting your journey.

Along the route, you will also encounter Hærvejen - The Ancient Road, which might inspire you to take another hike in Jutland.

Soon, you will meet Øster Nykirke, which is Denmark’s highest situated church. On the other side of the road, you will find Sct. Peders Helligkilde, a holy spring whose water was believed to have healing powers.

At Øster Nykirke, you can make a detour (about 2.5 kilometers) to the source of the Gudenå River. Besides being a beautiful natural area, you will also get a piece of history. Here you will find the remains of a bathing facility from the 1930s, which was a major attraction back then with swimming pools, a fountain with running spring water, and a coffee pavilion.

The Hovedkær Stage (Hovedkær-etapen)

From Tørring, you head towards Vindelev, where Denmark’s largest, richest, and most beautiful gold treasures have been found; the Vindelev Treasure.

In Vindelev, you will also find the route’s official rest stop, King Rans Gate (Kong Rans Port). Kong Rans Port is a small hill with an integrated bench that provides shelter from the wind and weather and offers a beautiful view over Vindelev City Park down towards the lake.

As you approach Jelling, you can take a detour (about 1.7 kilometers) to Brandbjerg Højskole, where you can see the beautiful manor house, whose history dates back to the late 16th century.

In Jelling, you encounter UNESCO World Heritage. Here you stand in the middle of the Viking Age with rune stones and burial mounds. Across the road is Kongernes Jelling, an experience center where you can learn more about the life of the Vikings.

The Viking Stage (Vikinge-etapen)

From the Viking town of Jelling, you head towards Grejsdal Valley. Besides being a scenic area, one of Vejle’s most popular hiking routes, Grejsdalstien, runs through Grejsdal Valley.

After the valley, the journey continues to Vejle. Here, you can visit Vejle Pedestrian Street, which has previously been honored as Denmark’s Most Beautiful Shopping Town.

If you are interested in art and culture, you can visit Vejle Art Museum or the Cultural Museum. Both places have free admission.

The Valley Stage (Ådals-etapen)

Before leaving Vejle, you can make a stop at the experience center Økolariet. Here you will find exhibitions on sustainability, environment, and nature.

The station building dates from 1897 and is now a museum, where the ticket office and waiting room have been reconstructed with many original effects.

Further along the route, you reach Randbøldal. Here lies the Randbøldal Museum, where you can learn about the old days’ production of paper and cloth. The museum always has free admission.
